THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., July 29, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/—Amgen (Nasdaq: AMGN) reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.38 for the second quarter of 2010, an increase of 7 percent compared to $1.29 for the second quarter of 2009. Adjusted net income increased 1 percent to $1,326 million for the second quarter of 2010 compared to $1,311 million for the second quarter of 2009.

Amgen Appoints Ronald D. Sugar to the Company's Board of Directors

Sugar to the company’s board, effective immediately.  Dr. Sugar, 61, is chairman emeritus of Northrop Grumman Corp. and served as the company’s chairman and chief executive officer from 2003 to 2009. He was president and chief operating officer of Northrop from 2001 to 2003. He has been a director of Chevron Corporation since 2005.
