Amgen Announces Preliminary Results of Its Tender Offer
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Amgen (Nasdaq: AMGN) today announced the preliminary results of its modified Dutch auction tender offer, which expired at 12:00 midnight, New York City time, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011.
Based on the preliminary count by American Stock Transfer & Trust Company, LLC, the depositary for the tender offer, a total of 98,062,630 shares of Amgen’s common stock were properly tendered and not properly withdrawn at or below the purchase price of $60.00 per share, including 30,827,827 shares that were tendered through notice of guaranteed delivery. Amgen has been informed by the depositary that the preliminary proration factor for the tender offer is approximately 85 percent.

Amgen and FDA Agree to Modify Nplate® (Romiplostim) Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy
Prescribing Physicians, Patients and Institutions no Longer Required to Enroll in Nplate® NEXUS Program
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Dec. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/—Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) today announced the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has modified the requirements of the Nplate® (romiplostim) Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) Program. Prescribing physicians, patients and institutions are no longer required to enroll in the safety monitoring program, called the Nplate® NEXUS (Network of EXperts Understanding and Supporting Nplate and Patients) Program, in order to prescribe or receive Nplate.

Enbrel® (etanercept) Patent Issued
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/—Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) today issued the following statement:
Amgen today announced the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 8,063,182 related to Enbrel® (etanercept). This patent is owned by Hoffman-La Roche Inc. ("Roche") and exclusively licensed to Amgen. Immunex Corporation (acquired by Amgen in 2002) originally licensed this patent application from Roche in 1999, and in 2004, Amgen paid Roche a one-time payment and obtained an exclusive, fully paid-up license to the application which issued today as the ‘182 patent. The patent describes and claims the fusion protein that is etanercept, and by statute, the ‘182 patent has a term of 17 years from today.

XGEVA Prevented or Delayed the Onset of Bone Metastases in Patients With Prostate Cancer
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/—Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) announced today the publication of results from a Phase 3 trial (the ‘147 study) that evaluated XGEVA® (denosumab) for use in preventing or delaying the onset of bone metastases in men with nonmetastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). Published in The Lancet, the study found XGEVA significantly prolonged bone metastasis-free survival, delayed time to bone metastasis and reduced the risk of symptomatic bone metastases. This study is the first to demonstrate that targeting the bone microenvironment prevents bone metastasis in men with prostate cancer.
